I don’t know how it happens but at the end of every October, we have a ton of Halloween stickers floating around our house. I guess it has something to do with all of the school and family Halloween parties my boys attend! I’ve decided to put them to good use with this fun activity that’s really easy to set up!

My boys challenge was to trace the outline of the ghost with stickers and count how many they used to make their creation!

Here’s What You’ll Need…..

Supplies:

  • Halloween Stickers
  • Paper
  • Marker

Here’s What We Did:

First I drew a simple ghost. You could draw a pumpkin, witch’s hat, crescent moon, bat, spider, anything you would like!

I also wrote a prompt at the bottom of the page to write the number of stickers used to outline the ghost. My six-year-old is currently working on counting and writing his numbers up to 100, so I figured this was a great way to practice this skill. I know he’d be excited about this activity because he’s really into math these days!

My boys worked together on this activity. Leo traced the outline with the stickers and Sonny did the final count at the end of the activity.

Peeling the stickers strengthens fine motor skills and putting them on the line helps improve hand-eye coordination.

Once Leo got to this point of the activity, he did something really cool that I didn’t expect him to do! He started moving his finger along the sticker-less part of the line and made a pretty accurate estimate of how many stickers he would ned to finish his ghost! “I will need about 12 more stickers, Momma.”

Once Leo was finished with the stickers, Sonny stepped in to count. As you can see the stickers are pretty small but he had no problems with one-to-one correspondence.

Once it was finished, the boys wanted me to cut it out and hang it in there room! They loved this so much that we’ll try this for other holidays! Just find themed stickers for any occasion and you have an activity that will keep kids busy and entertainedfor awhile!

I hope you give this not so spooky activity a try! I promise, your kids will love it as much as my boys.
