We tried this beautiful nature weaving craft last Valentine’s Day and loved it so much! You could make these hearts for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day or just for fun! It’s the perfect gift or decoration to place on a shelf. You could also paper punch a hole through the top, loop some twine through it, and hang a few on the wall. That would be adorable!
It’s so incredibly simple to make and fun to create! You might even join the kids to make a few for the special people in your life.
Here’s what you’ll need..
Supplies:
- Cardboard
- Flowers- I find the small flower bouquet fillers dry nicely. We got our flowers from Trader Joes
- Rubber Bands
- Scissors
- You Belong Here (optional- You can easily turn this craft into a book activity with this adorable story)

Here’s How We Made Them:
Step 1:
Gather your pieces of nature for weaving. You can reuse flowers from a holiday bouquet or buy some new flowers if you don’t have any growing outdoors this time of year. The smaller flowers dry really nicely. We purchased baby’s breath and other varieties of flower bouquet fillers.
Step 2:
Snip little slits on the side of the hearts so you have a place to put your rubber bands. This step will help the rubber bands stay in place when you weave the flowers. We chose red rubber bands because of the Valentine’s Day color theme, but natural brown rubber bands would look nice too!
Step 3:
Start weaving! Weave the pieces of nature through the rubber bands. You can have one color or a variety of colorful flowers. I love this nature craft because it will turn out beautiful either way!

After our hearts were finished, I was curious to see how they would look after the flowers dried out. I pressed the flowers by covering them with wax paper, stacking a heavy book on them, and setting them aside for a few weeks. As you can see, the hearts still look beautiful!
