<p>I shared these photos on my <strong><a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CObyJ2sr23z/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-lasso-id="2383">Instagram</a></strong> and Facebook pages last week and I had a bunch of questions about how to make these pretty cookies. The process is easy, but thought it would be best to share my tips and tricks here!</p>
<p><a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Little-Pine-Learners" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-lasso-id="2384"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-5788" src="https://littlepinelearners.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Kids-Printable-for-Outdoor-Learning.png" alt="Printables for Outdoor Learning" width="970" height="250" srcset="https://littlepinelearners.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Kids-Printable-for-Outdoor-Learning.png 970w, https://littlepinelearners.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Kids-Printable-for-Outdoor-Learning-300x77.png 300w, https://littlepinelearners.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Kids-Printable-for-Outdoor-Learning-768x198.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 970px) 100vw, 970px" /></a></p>
<p>These edible flower cookies cookies are almost too pretty to eat! Ready to make a dozen or two? Here’s what you’ll need….</p>
<h2>Supplies:</h2>
<ul>
<li>Sugar Cookies Mix- Try a <strong><a href="https://www.lifeloveandsugar.com/best-soft-and-chewy-sugar-cookies/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-lasso-id="2385">recipe from scratch</a></strong> or purchase a premade mix. I used this <strong><a href="https://www.amazon.com/Betty-Crocker-Baking-Sugar-Cookie/dp/B00AK64BXG?dchild=1&amp;keywords=betty+crocker+sugar+cookie+mix&amp;qid=1620267917&amp;sr=8-7&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=littlepinelea-20&amp;linkId=9afebaf5b5a0a1aa7da435d1c4cf40a9&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-lasso-id="2386">Betty Crocker mix</a></strong> for the photos you see in this post, but will be trying this <strong><a href="https://www.amazon.com/Foodstirs-Organic-Sweet-Tooth-Cookie/dp/B01N42EZE0?cv_ct_cx=sugar+cookie+mix&amp;dchild=1&amp;keywords=sugar+cookie+mix&amp;pd_rd_i=B01N42EZE0&amp;pd_rd_r=0cd1cb1a-fec0-41fc-8d9a-6cf14a33c36c&amp;pd_rd_w=ZICrB&amp;pd_rd_wg=AZWK6&amp;pf_rd_p=26b0e770-de1c-4342-bf97-c57fd874dbaf&amp;pf_rd_r=1NJYYSJ8E2328FT4QRM4&amp;psc=1&amp;qid=1620268134&amp;sr=1-1-49946e88-733b-44df-869b-c05699555c56&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=littlepinelea-20&amp;linkId=1eb04f3c9352f92cea5613d0589e5d43&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-lasso-id="2387">organic mix</a></strong> soon!</li>
<li>Edible flowers- I found a pack at my local grocery store (by the refrigerated packaged herbs) called <strong><a href="https://www.shenandoahgrowers.com/products" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-lasso-id="2388">Shenandoah Organic Edible Flowers</a></strong>. You can also forage wild violets, dandelions, or any other <strong><a href="https://www.foodunfolded.com/article/how-to-eat-edible-flowers?gclid=Cj0KCQjwytOEBhD5ARIsANnRjViepNrLUBoMwsx28PaKXRJAEqAU2EsIbZ8TWZqrD2BEF6SQ2nxs5KAaAun3EALw_wcB" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-lasso-id="2389">common edible flower</a></strong>!</li>
<li>Baking supplies: <strong><a href="https://www.amazon.com/Farberware-Classic-Wood-Rolling-Pin/dp/B005D6GFFA?dchild=1&amp;keywords=rolling+pin&amp;qid=1620268582&amp;sr=8-6&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=littlepinelea-20&amp;linkId=7f5089736f11c51e4b11c8c4ccf51e3a&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-lasso-id="2390">Rolling pin</a></strong>, <strong><a href="https://www.amazon.com/Hamilton-Beach-62682RZ-Mixer-Snap/dp/B001CH0ZLE?dchild=1&amp;keywords=mixer&amp;qid=1620268629&amp;sr=8-3&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=littlepinelea-20&amp;linkId=43ed28715611a0f65bc2262b0dea8f64&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-lasso-id="2391">mixer</a></strong>, <strong><a href="https://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Cooling-Silicone-Parchment-Dishwasher/dp/B08FB96ZPX?dchild=1&amp;keywords=baking+sheet&amp;qid=1620268788&amp;sr=8-2-spons&amp;psc=1&amp;spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExWks1UUVEUFlTMUhEJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNTI3MTUyMlVHMjhHQUNWSVJGOSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMTcxNDIzMTRDUUcxVDYzUElZVyZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU%3D&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=littlepinelea-20&amp;linkId=e3bebf3c18e45b0dbe3c299d09e26532&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-lasso-id="2392">baking sheet</a></strong>, and <strong><a href="https://www.amazon.com/Stainless-WHYSKO-Refrigerator-Organizers-Ecofriendly/dp/B07KNTT2HN?dchild=1&amp;keywords=mixing+bowl&amp;qid=1620268859&amp;sr=8-1-spons&amp;psc=1&amp;spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyUjlJWDBUOVpMV0QzJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMDY2MDk0M0VGT1JBN0tKVk9HTCZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNDk2MTQ0M1NISTFSSk40S1JEQSZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU%3D&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=littlepinelea-20&amp;linkId=8ed78127f17d5b151bba6ba98a1fa7d4&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-lasso-id="2393">mixing bowl</a></strong>. </li>

<h2>Here’s How We Made Edible Flower Cookies:</h2>
<h3>Step 1:</h3>
<p>First forage edible flowers or purchase edible flowers from the grocery store! If you are foraging flowers, I suggest using a plant identifier app called &#8220;Picture This&#8221; to make sure you are picking edible flowers. Also, read up a bit on foraging before you head out! I found <strong><a href="https://www.tyrantfarms.com/incredible-edible-wild-flowers/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-lasso-id="2395">this article</a></strong> helpful. </p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-5324" src="https://littlepinelearners.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Edible-flower-cookies.jpg" alt="Baking with pieces of nature!" width="960" height="960" srcset="https://littlepinelearners.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Edible-flower-cookies.jpg 960w, https://littlepinelearners.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Edible-flower-cookies-300x300.jpg 300w, https://littlepinelearners.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Edible-flower-cookies-150x150.jpg 150w, https://littlepinelearners.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Edible-flower-cookies-768x768.jpg 768w, https://littlepinelearners.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Edible-flower-cookies-400x400.jpg 400w" sizes="(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<h3>Step 2:</h3>
<p>I suggest drying your flowers and pressing them for a couple of hours before you use them for baking. This will help them stay flat when you press them into your cookies.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-5325" src="https://littlepinelearners.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Edible-flower-cookies-3-1.jpg" alt="A gorgeous way to bake with nature!" width="960" height="960" srcset="https://littlepinelearners.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Edible-flower-cookies-3-1.jpg 960w, https://littlepinelearners.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Edible-flower-cookies-3-1-300x300.jpg 300w, https://littlepinelearners.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Edible-flower-cookies-3-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https://littlepinelearners.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Edible-flower-cookies-3-1-768x768.jpg 768w, https://littlepinelearners.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Edible-flower-cookies-3-1-400x400.jpg 400w" sizes="(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<h3>Step 3: </h3>
<p>Follow the particular instructions for baking your cookies. I followed the drop cookie recipe on my box and it called for an 8-9 minute baking time. I popped the cookies in the oven for 7 minutes, pulled them out, and gently pressed the flowers on top of the cookies. The petals instantly stuck to the warm cookies. </p>
<p>Then, I sprinkled some Turbinado sugar on the cookies, put them in the oven for 2 more minutes, and put them on a drying rack to cool off. It&#8217;s fun to experiment with different types of flowers to see how they lay on the cookies!</p>
<p>My boys took the first bites and they absolutely LOVED the edible flower cookies! Adding fresh flowers to cookies makes them feel just a little more special. They are the perfect Easter, Mother&#8217;s Day, or special summer treat!</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-5326" src="https://littlepinelearners.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Edible-flower-cookies-7.jpg" alt="Baking with pansies!" width="960" height="960" srcset="https://littlepinelearners.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Edible-flower-cookies-7.jpg 960w, https://littlepinelearners.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Edible-flower-cookies-7-300x300.jpg 300w, https://littlepinelearners.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Edible-flower-cookies-7-150x150.jpg 150w, https://littlepinelearners.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Edible-flower-cookies-7-768x768.jpg 768w, https://littlepinelearners.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Edible-flower-cookies-7-400x400.jpg 400w" sizes="(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
