Here is an easy leaf craft idea for Halloween. This is a great non-scary idea, and uses natural materials which you probably already have right in your yard or nature collection! This adorable nature craft will keep kids busy for a long time as they create leafy hair dos for their silly rock monsters. Bring out the scissors and you can also practice scissors skills in the most inviting and fun way possible!
We had so much fun making our Mummy Rocks that we had to bring out the rock collection for another Halloween nature craft!
This activity was SO FUN! My boys laughed when they saw the cute monster rocks sitting out for them in the morning and they had so much fun making countless hair designs. Since we used double sided tape, they could peel the leaves off and start all over and over again!
I love activities like this because I can peel the leaves off when we are finished, put the rocks in a bag (with the double sided tape still on) and bring them back out when we are ready for them again! These are perfect to put in a backpack and bring out during your next outdoor leaf hunt.
Here’s what you’ll need…
Supplies:
- Googly Eyes
- Double sided tape
- Rocks
- Leaves
- Marker

Fall Craft Steps:
I prepared these monster rocks by drawing simple mouth designs and sticking on the googly eye stickers. You could always just draw the eyes if you don’t have googly eyes.
Then I put a couple of strips of double sided tape on the forehead of the monsters. We also used double sided tape in A Simple Fall Leaf Crown Activity and that was a big hit so I figured we’d use it again!
I surrounded the rock monsters with some leaves that we collected the night before.
Here’s a tip: If you collect leaves ahead of time, keep them flat by placing them in the pages of a heavy book so they don’t curl up over night.
My boys instantly loved this leaf craft and got started right away testing out different “hair” styles on the monster rocks.
My four year old asked for scissors and I thought that was a great idea! Time for a monster haircut!
I love the little stem antennas they added from the cut stems! They look like cute rock aliens!
They’re quite the wild crew if you ask me! This activity kept my boys (and me) entertained and creating for over an hour today. We had so much fun and I know you will too!
Save it for later and Pin it!
I hope you give this leaf craft a try! I promise, your little nature lovers will love it as much as my boys.
